The Record began as a bedroom songwriting and recording project, from the upstairs of a rented house in Carrboro, North Carolina. Now, Triangle music scene veterans Sean Spollen and Tyler Drake (Cool Ethan, Gossip Grows On Trees) are taking their songs to the streets to promote their new self-produced album, The Things You Can’t Forget.
On the album, Spollen sings about an aimless North Carolina summer, filled with dive bars, friends and lovers, gossip, and long days and longer nights. The down-to-earth lyrics deal with all the standard, universal themes about love and loss, while exploring the line between friendship and love, betrayal, and the ability to be happy with what you have (or lack thereof).
